Introduction
Welcome to Blue Moon, a fully-modular modding guide for modernizing Fallout New Vegas!
Blue Moon is a modding guide for Fallout New Vegas that will carefully walk you through how to install all the mods you will need to bring Fallout New Vegas's visuals and gameplay to modern standards. Bethesda won't remaster New Vegas, so why don't we do it ourselves? The guide is highly accessible for everyone, no matter your modding experience. It is still incredibly important that you read all the instructions very carefully, even if you believe you are experienced enough to skip them. There are many small instructions that are vital for your game to function, and could be easily missed if you aren't careful. Although you don't need any modding experience to use this guide, it is expected for you to be relatively experienced with operating a computer in general.
- Stability: The guide includes all essential stability enhancements and no placebo/dangerous mods.
- Performance: Every tool, setting and mod in the guide has been carefully selected and play-tested to ensure balanced performance.
- Customizability: Tailor your game to your needs. Great care has gone into making the guide as customizable of an experience as possible. Don't like a particular mod? Skip it! Past the essentials section, every mod listed is compeltely optional.
- Better Graphics: A majority of the guide will be dedicated to giving New Vegas's graphics a major facelift. From weapon models, to character models, and everything in-between; expect a seamless and balanced overhaul of the game's looks.
- Better Gameplay: Blue Moon features what I like to call "meant-to-be" gameplay overhauls. The goal is not to make New Vegas feel like a completely new game, but rather feel like playing a remastered version of the original game.
- An English copy of the game with all DLCs from either Steam or GOG.
- Only the English version of the game is supported for maximum compatibility; translations can conflict with mods and cause issues.
-
The Microsoft Store and Epic Games Store versions of the game are unsupported:
- The Microsoft Store version doesn't support xNVSE which is essential for most mods.
- The Epic Games Store version can be patched to support xNVSE, but Epic's DRM currently makes it incompatible with Mod Organizer 2 - this guide's mod manager of choice. Alpha builds of MO2 that supported Epic are available on their Discord, but this is currently unsupported by the guide. Proceed with caution.
- The German release uses a "No Gore" version, making it also incompatible with xNVSE. If you are on Steam, you can use DepotDownloader to download the international exe.
- At least 45GB of free drive space including downloads, about 25GB once downloads are deleted.
- Windows 10 or higher (64-bit).

- Extract the archive and run the included install_all.bat as an administrator to install all of the required libraries at once.

- An archiving tool (7-Zip is recommended, but any option will work).
- The latest GPU drivers (either NVIDIA, AMD or Intel).
- A NexusMods account.
- A Mod:Pub account.
